With 25 years of specialist knowledge
Our Whalebone Lane Sedation Centre was purpose built for dental sedation 25 years ago to specialise in the treatment and management of dental phobic and anxious patients. We are able to manage patient needs through different types of sedation techniques and services. This enables us to treat most patients, allowing them to receive much needed dental care.

Useful guidance in completing the referral webform:
- If your patient has multiple treatments required, please complete the referral form in order of clinical priority – as often multiple visits are required (NHS patients pay any NHS charges each time they attend).
- Your patient's contact details are essential - including an email where possible.
- Your practice details must be provided and you as the dentist need to sign the web form.
- X-rays must be attached. If unable to provide, please provide a reason.
Extractions by our skilled team
We provide extractions under Local Anaesthetic at our anxiety management sedation clinic. Often an extraction can be managed within our skilled team without the need for sedation, which is less invasive with a shorter waiting time, ensures a faster recovery, a quick return to their normal activities and is much more convenient for your patient.
Conscious IV sedation age
- Our sedations are provided by an anaesthetist and privately we can assist with a broad range treatments.
- The NHS have a stricter sedation criteria; the minimum age is 12, weighing a minimum of 25kg.
- If your patient is pregnant we will not be able to provide sedation.
Treatments provided with IV sedation
- Extractions. Please indicate if the extraction is surgical, retained roots, impacted etc.
- Fillings
- Crowns
- Root canals
- (PRIVATE: ALL, NHS: teeth 1-5)
- (PRIVATE: ALL, NHS: No root canal through the crown or re-root)
RA/Gas and air
- The age range for this is 5 - 12 years old.
- (PRIVATE: ALL extractions, NHS: no permanent teeth, deciduous only.
- Not accepting RCTs under RA/Gas.
