What is a dental plan?

A dental plan is a private subscription service that enables you to split the cost of your annual dental treatments into a manageable monthly payment. Depending on the plan you opt for, you’ll be able to undertake a set number of treatments over the course of the year and you’ll be given the choice of when to have your appointments, which private dentist you’d like to see and the Essex Family Dental clinic you wish to subscribe to.

What plans are available and what is included in each plan?

We offer 2 tiers of dental plans to our patients:

The Dental Essential Plan includes the following:

  • 2 check-ups (including urgent appointments)

  • 2 hygienist appointments (including Saturdays) – traditional scale and polish
  • A 27% saving against the usual pay as you go price for the same private treatments
  • A further 10% off some standard dental treatments with Essex Family Dental*

The Dental Care+ Plan includes the following:

What are the benefits of subscribing to a dental plan?

Not only does a dental plan give you control over your schedule by allowing you to plan your trips to the dentist in advance, it also helps you to manage your finances because each monthly payment will be for the same amount.

Even better, signing up to a dental plan with Essex Family Dental provides a great discount against the usual treatment price for private care. For example, the Dental Care+ and Dental Essential plans provide an impressive 33% and 27% saving respectively against what you would otherwise pay for the same private treatments on a pay as you go basis and, additionally, they even represent a saving against the NHS price*.

*33p per month and £1.99 per month saved respectively under the Dental Essential and Dental Care+ plans when compared to the NHS price for check-ups and x-rays.

And, most importantly, by following a robust dental maintenance routine you’ll be in the best position to prevent serious dental issues and additional treatment needs in the future.

The more often we think about how healthy habits benefit us, the more likely we will be to maintain them. Coming to us every 3 months will help keep your dental routine on track!

How can I sign up to a dental plan with Essex Family Dental?

Subscribing to either of our dental plans is easy – simply click here to sign up online or you can request a call back from your preferred dental practice. Our team will talk you through the plans available, help you choose the right one for you and get you started.

Then, if you like, you can start booking your appointments straight away. You can even research the available dentists in advance by reviewing their bios here.

Alternatively, it’s just as easy to sign up in person. Pop along to any of our surgeries and ask at reception or have a chat with your dentist during your next visit.

Can I choose my dentist and dental surgery?

Yes. With our dental care plans, you can choose which of our dentists / hygienists you’d like to see at any of our practices. The only limit is that you must subscribe to one practice at a time to ensure consistency of care.

Terms and conditions

Each membership dental plan is for a minimum of 12 months and will continue to roll month-to-month thereafter until cancelled. Should you cancel within the 12 month period, you will be required to pay the practice the value of any discounts or treatments you have received under the plan which have not already been paid for by your subscription. It's your responsibility to attend your appointments as included in your level of plan. No refunds will be given for appointments not attended. Should you also fail to attend an appointment that has been made without letting us know 48 hours in advance, you will forfeit that visit as detailed in your plan. All treatments must be completed within the 12-month subscription period and cannot be rolled over into subsequent years.

Just visited today and had an appointment with the lovely dental hygienist Mirela. Very pleased with how quick and thorough she was with my cleaning. Hadn’t been in years so I was very nervous and full of anxiety, but both her and her nurse were so friendly and professional that they put me right at ease. Thank you so much! Reception team are very lovely also.

I’m not so good at going to the dentist but I was made to feel very relaxed by the receptionist, dental nurse and dentist. The service was excellent. For once I won’t mind going back.

I had not been to a dentist for 15 years from fear brought on by previous experiences with Dentists. I came here and was treated by the most brilliant team — my fear has gone knowing they understood and were patient with me. I actually am looking forward to my next visit. Anyone who has a fear get in touch with this amazing team.

Had my first appointment here today and I was pleasantly surprised. My dentist was Vinusha, she didn't rush me out, she listened to my concerns and explained everything clearly. As an NHS patient this was really nice experience.

I first went here for an emergency last year and as a very nervous patient, I saw a lovely dentist who put me at ease. I've recently been able to join the dentist now and saw the same dentist, which put me at ease straight away.

I had my first ever hygienist appointment with airflow. I was quite nervous but was quickly reassured by the lady that performed the procedure (sorry i cant remember her name). Really happy with the results. My teeth look so much cleaner and healthier. The staff were really friendly. I also had a consultation for inviserline. They took a quick scan of my teeth so I have a idea of how they compare to the Finnished result.

I would highly recommend Orchard Road Dental Surgery! I have small 2 children and the team are very polite and welcoming. The dentist took the time to make my children feel comfortable and at ease when having their check up. I am a very nervous person at the dentist so it helps that they can help make the children feel comfortable, as well as myself when it's been my turn. I have been coming here since I was a child and will continue to do so.

Brought both children after school. Lovely clean practice. Very kind, professional and quick. My children were very good because the practice and staff were very inviting. Very good with children. Would highly recommend!

I had the treatment yesterday to prepare for a cap that will be fitted in two weeks. Everything went really smoothly — the process was efficient and comfortable, and the dentist, his assistant, and the office staff were all friendly and helpful. I was well cared for.

Frequently asked questions about dental plans

What are the benefits of having a dental plan?

Financial predictability: Spread the cost of your dental care evenly over the year.

Access to private care: Enjoy the flexibility to choose from a wider range of dentists with shorter waiting times.

Prevention of issues: Experience the benefits of regular and ongoing oral health maintenance – think of it as a regular work-out for your teeth with your personal trainer coaching you each time!

Reduced costs: Enjoy discounted treatment fees with your dental plan rather than paying individually for each treatment item.

How long is the dental plan for and can I make changes?

Similar to a gym membership (but with benefits for your teeth), when you first sign up to a dental plan it’ll be for a 12-month period. After the first year you’ll have the option to cancel any time with just one month’s notice. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time, even within the first year – just give us a call if you need to make changes.

Have you thought about?

A smile makeover with dental cosmetic treatments such as teeth straightening, composite bonding, teeth whitening and implants.

Composite bonding

Composite bonding

If you’ve been dreaming of the perfect smile but don’t want to undergo any permanent procedures that involve removal of part of the tooth, then composite bonding might be the best solution to bring out the best in your smile. Composite bonding is a non-invasive tooth restoration treatment that changes the shape and colour of your teeth through the application of a tooth-coloured resin onto the tooth’s natural surface, whilst also protecting the integrity of your natural teeth.

Implants

A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Once placed in the jawbone, it supports a colour-matched porcelain crown to seamlessly fill the gap. Implants offer a strong, long-lasting and natural-looking solution that restores both the appearance and function of your smile.
